The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CAR collaborates with the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) Program.

The KALINISAN Program is an initiative of the interior department which aims to promote and harmonize programs on solid waste management, community cleanup, and community cleaning and greening.

Under this program, the DENR-CAR regional office and its field offices participated and enjoined other stakeholders to join the nationwide community cleanup drive in their respective communities.

As a result, the DENR-CAR-led cleanup led to the collection of 1,380 sacks of mixed wastes with a volume of 6,616.02 kilograms from different barangay, waterbodies, and water systems in the Cordilleras.

The cleanup drive was participated by 3,252 individuals from the regional and field offices of the DENR-CAR; representatives from the DILG-CAR; City, Municipal and Barangay Local Government Unit officials; Sangguniang Kabataan officials and members; Department of Education; Philippine National Police; Bureau of Fire Protection; Bureau of Jail Management and Penology; Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc.; 1st Manuever Platoon of the Mountain Province Provincial Public Safety Company; teachers and students from the academe; Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries; and Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program beneficiaries.

Overall, 1,039 cleanup drives were conducted simultaneously, resulting to the collection of 63,938.10 kilograms of mixed waste. These were participated by 36,585 individuals.
