Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation. In line with this year’s theme for the World Wildlife Day, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CAR conducted activities with its partners.
In Abra, an orientation was conducted to on-the-job trainees of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Abra about World Wildlife Day as an environmental event, as well as environment and natural resources laws.
An information, education and communication campaign was also conducted by the Community ENRO Lamut in Kiangan, Ifugao. The activity focused on the salient features of Republic Act No. 9147, commonly known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act. The activity was participated by 50 students from the Riverview Polytechnic and Academic School, Inc.
In Tabuk, students of Naneng National High School at Naneng, Tabuk City, Kalinga participated in an information cum cleanup drive conducted by CENRO Tabuk.
The same activity was led by CENRO Pinukpuk at the Abra-Kalinga boundary which was participated by the Philippine Army and students from Balbalasang Elementary School. Banao Protected Landscape Superintendent Jacqueline Parinigit, in her lecture emphasized the importance of wildlife and the need to protect and nurture them. Focusing also on the theme, she asked the participants to help the CENRO disseminate the advocacy on wildlife to tie up and strengthen partnerships between the government, other agencies and communities.
In Apayao, PENRO Apayao and CENRO conducted tree planting activities, stressing the need to nurture flora in the province especially indigenous species.
Apart from these activities, employees from the DENR joined the 2023 World Wildlife Day webinar hosted by the Biodiversity Management Bureau.
